The plan

A plan for the year, proposed from your own books in about ten minutes, that lives as pace rather than a grid.

What this is

The plan is a budget that starts from what you actually spent, not a blank grid. Nummio proposes every line from your last twelve months — one-time things left out and named, annual and quarterly items placed in the month they land, lines that follow a driver (fuel and flight hours) offered as flex lines — and you nudge, skip, or type over. Once it is drafted, every line can be changed on the plan sheet, and once you start using it, the plan is versioned: every change makes a new version and the original is kept.

Building one with the guide

The plan → Start the guide walks through eight screens, one decision each: where to start from (the last twelve months, last year's plan, another one of your businesses, a spreadsheet or the budget in your QuickBooks file, or a blank sheet), what the plan is for (with room for a goal in your own words — “open a second location in the fall” — which Nummio shapes into lines with months, priced from your books, for you to keep or drop; this is the one place AI is used in setup, and it counts as an AI Op), where revenue lands, the costs you have committed to, the costs that move, people and any hire, what you take out, and finally the consequence — what you would keep if the plan holds, and the month cash bottoms out. Every screen can be skipped; a skipped screen keeps what Nummio proposed. You can leave and pick up where you left off.

Where the numbers come from

  • With six months or more of history, every line starts from your own spending, plus a stated cost inflation you can change.
  • With less, every line is an estimate from your industry against the revenue goal you state, and is labeled as one until your first month closes.
  • A line committed by a scheduled payment or a steady contract says so, with the cadence and the end date where there is one.
  • A hire adds a line from the month you pick, with employer costs on top at a stated default.
  • What you take out — draws, distributions, or dividends, in the words your tax classification uses — leaves cash without counting as a cost.

Living with it

Once a plan is live, The plan opens on the month in progress: what you've spent so far against where the plan expected you by today, line by line with a tick marking where you'd normally be by today, a sentence for each line built from its charges (when none of Nummio's own sentences fit a line's charges, it may phrase one overnight from those charges alone, which counts as an AI Op), and where the month is heading. Raise this line or Move it to a new figure makes a reforecast version; the original is kept and the view shows plan beside now expected. The weekly summary carries the plan's pace, Today shows a line that is over pace or a change worth deciding on, and on the first of the month you get a note on how last month went against the plan. Wrap up the month links to that review: hold the plan and note why, or adjust it, and either way the original version is kept.

Who can do what

Owners and Bookkeepers build and change the plan. Everyone who can see reports can read it. Nothing in a plan is required: a line can have no target, and a plan can start with every proposal untouched.
