Every QuickBooks company is its own bill. Here is what that adds up to.

QuickBooks Online has no multi-company plan. Intuit's help article on adding a company says each one requires its own separate paid subscription. So the cost of several businesses on QuickBooks is the tier price multiplied by the number of businesses, and it climbs again every time the tier price does.

List prices before introductory discounts; each QuickBooks figure links to where it was read and when. The year-by-year history shows how quickly the multiplier has moved: Plus was $70 in 2021 and is $140 today, so three companies on Plus went from $210 to $420 a month in five years.

What the subscriptions don't include

Still to pay forWhy
A consolidation layerCombining the companies means Spreadsheet Sync on an Advanced subscription, a third-party tool, or a spreadsheet. None of the per-company subscriptions include a group view.
Someone's time on intercompany activityEvery bill one company pays for another is a journal entry in two files, and every one has to be found again at consolidation. Intuit's own guidance is clearing accounts per entity pair and elimination at consolidation, by hand.
The annual increase, multipliedA $25 increase on one plan is $25 a month. Across five companies it is $125 a month, every year it happens.

The honest comparison

Cheaper per-ledger tools exist. Zoho Books Standard at $20 per organization and Wave Pro at $19 per business are both less per ledger than Nummio, and the calculator shows them next to QuickBooks with their gaps named: no consolidation, no intercompany, user and volume caps. Nummio's case is not that it is the cheapest ledger. It is that a portfolio pays once, Portfolio at $89 for up to three businesses and Holdings at $189 for up to eight, with the consolidation and the intercompany handling included rather than layered on, and with the price locked for 24 months from signup. Watch three QuickBooks files become one set of books before taking any of that on faith.
